Given the complexity of this task, teams are leveraging state-of-the-art techniques in computer science (programming, AI, machine learning, and HMI), electrical engineering (sensing and compute) and mechanical engineering (vehicle, assemblies, and control). Aurora Innovation is one of those companies with the core ambition of building an AV that can operate in all situations (a.k.a. level 5 autonomy). Our approach is based on a healthy mix of proven engineering techniques, combined with cutting-edge research in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning. Our philosophy is to have the students embedded with day-to-day engineers to help solve relevant challenges and making a direct impact on the product we’re building. We are looking for passionate, self-motivated students with experience in programming (C++, Python, Java), Machine Learning/Computer Science (Planning and Perception), Electrical Engineering (embedded software, board design, FPGA, GPU, sensing) and also Mechanical Engineering (automotive experience).
- BS/MS or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, EE, MechE, or related field
- Excellent C++ and /or Python programming and software design skills (for CS or EE)
- Excellent CAD software design skills and automotive engineering (for MechE)
- Strong mathematical skills, including linear algebra, numerical methods, and stochastic tools
- Passion for solving challenging, impactful problems
